Epicerie Boulud: Gourmet Food On The Go

In Food on August 31, 2011 at 3:32 pm

Daniel Boulud’s new food shop is a welcome addition to the Upper West Side. He offers a great range of gourmet snack food from DB’s hot dogs to oysters and salads. The shop, located right next door to Bar Boulud, is full of mouthwatering displays of  terrines, cheeses, and quiches, as well as delicious sandwiches such as the DBLT with roasted pork belly, and the Cubano, stuffed with suckling pig.

After having a four hour dinner at Bar Boulud, me and my friend Alexis decided to go by Épicerie Boulud for a little treat. The pastries section is something you would fantasize about.  And if you are like me, indecisive, then get one of everything… literally.

I didn’t expect the macarons to be so good, but I was pleasantly surprised. They were a perfect ratio of ganache to cookie. They had four flavors: chocolate, praline, mango and raspberry. But I was a fan of the more classic favors like the chocolate and praline.

Like everything on the Upper West Side, this place isn’t the cheapest. Especially for prepackaged sandwiches and salads. Nonetheless, I will be back to try the raw bar and sausage grill.
