Best BBQ I Ever Ate

Chef Adam Perry is responsible for the first-rate Memphis-style ribs at his Hell’s Kitchen rib joint, Daisy May’s BBQ.  There’s nothing fancy about this place, but what you will find is a modest cafeteria set-up, picnic tables, and straight-up amazing barbecue. Once you are there jump in line and get ready for a slammin barbecue experience.

They sure know how to do it will all the “fixin’s”.  I appreciate their wide variety including baked beans with burnt ends, rustic creamy corn with NY State cheddar, mashed potatoes with red eye gravy, Cajun dirty rice and beans, sweet potatoes with brown sugar, bourbon peaches, mac & cheese,  and so much more.

But let’s get down to it, the real reason why you should go to Daisy May’s, the Oklahoma Jumbo Beef Rib.  Iron Chef Michael Symon was right. This probably could be the best thing I ever ate! The Jumbo Beef Rib was fall off the bone delicious and juicy tender. If there is a meat that melts in your mouth, this is it!

The colossal size of this beef rib was mind blowing. The best way to eat this freakishly large rib was face first like Fred Flinstone.

And if you are with a large group the best thing to order is the tasting menu. It includes Kansas City Sweet & Sticky Pork Ribs, Memphis Dry Rub Pork Ribs, Oklahoma Jumbo Beef Rib, Tennessee Whiskey Beer Can Style Chicken, Texas Chopped Beef Brisket, Carolina Pulled Pork, Golden Spicy Corn Bread, and your choice of three fixin’s. I think that about covers all of our regional variations of barbecue.

Moist, seasoned to perfection, smokey, and sweet are just some of the words that can come to mind when I think about the barbecue at Daisy May’s.

And the Memphis Dry rub pork rib is the perfect blend of spices.

If you don’t take my word for it (or Michael Symon’s) try it out for yourself. The bottom line is that Daisy May’s is definitely in the top three New York City BBQ joints. If you want an  informal, quick in and out, barbecue meal near midtown Manhattan, Daisy May’s is the only choice.
